CLEDC Framework

This framework for lesson planning was introduced to me by my amazing mentor Melissa Hosten at the UArizona Center for Recruitment and Retention of Mathematics Teachers. I have wanted to share it for a while, but Melissa never wrote it down, so I did!

Infographic CLEDC Framework for lesson planning. C-Community: Start each lesson with an opportunity for students to work with and learn about their peers. L-Launch: Prepares students to think flexibly. Can be aligned to the lesson or preview upcoming topics. Keep to <8 minutes. E-Explore: Students work in groups to puzzle through rich tasks that will help them discover the lesson content. D-Discuss: Students share their strategy or approach to the task and discoveries they made, and help make sense of what others did. This is where academic vocabulary is formalized. C-Consolidate/Close: Students complete problems that show they KNOW the lesson content and can DO what the lesson taught.
