Writing With Zines
I discovered the amazing world of Zines after hosting the author and illustrator Molly Mendoza at the Tucson Festival of Books. Zines are little 8-page books folded out of a single piece of copy paper, and as I have attempted to illustrate in the Zine below, the possibilities for what to do with Zines are endless.
There are tons of amazing resources for how to use Zines in the classroom all over the Internet, and even some Zines available for free to use as mentor texts (although you will have to sift through some broken links to find the ones that are still up). There are templates you can print with boxes for each page of your Zine, but I find that it is easier to have students fold their Zine before writing it so they don't have to worry about which pages go upside-down.
